Nick Forrest Associates deliver onsite energy generation services including:

The company was founded in 2007 by Nick Forrest, Renewable Energy Adviser. Relevant qualifications:

  • BSc (first class honours) in Environmental Science, University of Edinburgh
  • MSc (distinction) in Sustainable Energy Systems, University of Edinburgh
  • Associate member of IEMA

Recent activity includes:

  • Predicted Scotland's jobs potential from the hydro sector for the Scottish Government, in partnership with Highland Eco-Design. The report, The Employment Potential of Scotland's Hydro Resource, should be published soon. 
  • Conducting energy efficiency audits and surveys for micro-generation on farms and households throughout the Borders, in partnership with the Borders Energy Farming Forum (run jointly by the Borders Machinery Ring and SISTech).
  • Recently surveyed Scotland for the Scottish Government to identify all sites where a viable hydroelectric scheme might be established. Using Hydrobot® (formerly known as HELP - Hydro-Electric Location and Planning) a model of unique design and construction. Development funding from NESTA (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) to build and launch Hydrobot. Working in association with SISTech Ltd and Black & Veatch Ltd.
  • Further surveys of potential hydro sites in Highlands for Green Highland Renewables.
  • Research into funding for a major biomass plant, on behalf of the Business Environment Partnership.
  • Early development of an education package exploring renewable energy, hydrogen and fuel cells, for a range of age-groups from primary through to tertiary education and workplace-based learning.
  • Established, co-wrote and presented an interactive educational package in the International Science Festival 2007, exploring renewable energy for 7-11 year-olds.
